Who is this course for? This level 2 course covers the key areas of the plumbing profession and is designed for all beginners who wish to become employed within the plumbing industry or for those wishing to go onto higher level qualifications. It gives candidates the underpinning knowledge and some portfolio evidence for the 6089 NVQ level 2. It covers both practical and theoretical aspects, but don't worry, you won't be stuck behind a desk all day taking notes - plumbing is a hands-on course. Cost £3,474 + VAT @ 17.5% = £4,081.95 This all inclusive price includes all the training, safety equipment, course handouts, examination entry fees, blow torch, drinks and a post-course telephone help-line. The only extras you will have to find are your food and your accommodation if required - which we can help you find.
Certificates Successful candidates will gain the following certificates:-
City & Guilds 6129 level 2 Technical Certificate in Basic Plumbing *BPEC Unvented Hot Water *BPEC Water Regulations
* These two certificates are not included in the cost of the course if the course is taken through the funding route - in that case they need to be purchased separately.

Duration of course This is an 8 week course which can be taken as a whole 8 week block or if more convenient, it can be split into two 4 week blocks. We are flexible with the times, so please call us with your requirements.
FREE safety equipment Everyone on this (and the 4 week) course will receive free safety equipment.
Course materials We will provide all your safety equipment, course handouts and tools for use during the course, but for Health and Safety purposes, you will need to provide your own steel-capped footwear.

Theory modules:-
Health and Safety - the legal requirements that must be met by you and your employer. Key Plumbing Principles - covers the science of plumbing, introducing the basic materials, theories and concepts. Common Plumbing Processes - teaches basic skills such as bending, jointing and fixing copper pipe and low carbon steel pipe. Cold Water Systems - collection, storage, treatment, supply and distribution of cold water. Hot Water Systems - instantaneous and storage systems. Central Heating Systems - level 2 covers pipework only. Electrical Supply - level 2 is restricted to basic practical skills on non-live components. Sanitation Systems - sanitary appliances, pipework and fittings and rainwater systems. Sheet Lead Work - basic principles, fabrication techniques, weathering and flashing. Environmental Awareness - energy conservation, disposal of waste and prevention of wastage. Working With Others - as well as excellent technical skills, you will need to know how to deal with other people by developing your personal skills. Basic Plumbing Studies - with a GOLA end test.
Practical Tests:- After initial training, students will be assessed through a wide range of practical tasks and multiple-choice test papers set by City & Guilds.

Achieving an NVQ Level 2 After completion of the 6129, the next step is the 6089 NVQ Level 2. This is a work based qualification which means you will need to demonstrate that you can carry out a broad range of plumbing skills in the workplace. Assessors will carry out a number of on-site visits (around 6) to gather evidence for your portfolio.
